A week later Mia was finally released from the hospital but her baby was having to stay in the neonatal unit until he was stronger.
Kris knew that Mia did not want to leave their baby in the hospital but she knew he was in good hands with the nurses there. As they left the hospital Kris looked over at Mia, who was staring out the window.
"Mia, sweetie I know you are having a hard time with leaving our baby at the hospital but its for the best" Kris said.
Mia turned her head to look at Kris and smiled, "I know he needs more special care so that he will be healthy and can come home with us".

"We can figure it out when we get home" Kris said calmly and Mia relaxed.
Mia and Kris got home and went into the den. Kris sat down on the couch and reached out his hand for Mia to take and he pulled her onto his lap and held her close.
"What names were you thinking about sweetheart?" Kris asked looking into Mia's eyes.
"Nathaniel Luc" Mia stated.
Kris smiled, "I like it".
"Good because I have been thinking hard ever since I found out I was pregnant what I wanted our child's name to be".
"I am glad we decided and when we go to the hospital tomorrow to see Nathaniel we can tell them his name for the birth certificate" Kris said and Mia leaned down and kissed Kris.
That night when Mia and Kris were laying in bed together and watching a movie. Kris was getting a little bored with the movie and he looked down at Mia who was snuggled up against his chest. He smirked to himself and slid his free hand to tilt Mia's chin to look at him. He leaned down and kissed Mia and then he deepened the kiss but Mia pulled back, "Kris we can't make love because its too soon after giving birth".

Chapter 23
Mia was having to stay overnight to make sure there were no other complications. Kris stayed with Mia and ended up falling asleep in a comfy chair that a nurse had brought for him.
In the middle of the night Mia started to feel weird and pushed the button for the nurse.
"Yes sweetie what's wrong?" the nurse asked walking over to Mia.
"Something is not right....oh god" Mia cried which woke up Kris and he jumped up and was at Mia's side instantly looking concerned and taking Mia's hand in his.
"What's wrong baby" Kris asked extremely worriedly.
"I am going to get the doctor" the nurse said and rushed out of the room.
"Kris something is not right and I....I...it hurts...oh" Mia cried more and Kris was scared and tired his best to comfort Mia. He kissed the top of her head and said, "It's going to be fine baby. Try and breathe for me."
The doctor came in, "I need everyone to move out of my way so I can see what is going on with Mia".
Kris moved away as the doctor started checking out Mia. His eyes filled with tears because he was so scared for both Mia and their unborn child. He went and sat down and closed his eyes and prayed hard.
Meanwhile the doctor and the nurses checked over Mia and tried to figure out why Mia was still having pain in her abdomen.
The doctors worked for about an hour trying to find the reason and it turned out that Mia was going again into preterm labor and since she had been having pain several times it was decided that Mia would have to give birth early and hope for the best.
The doctor walked over to Kris and touched his shoulder, "Mr Letang, we are gonna have to let Mia give birth early because it seems that we can not stop her labor so we are taking her into an emergency room to have her give birth early. Go with the nurse to get washed up for the birth of your child."
Kris got up and followed the nurse to get ready for the birth of his child. He looked up at the ceiling and said another prayer to himself, "Please God if you are up there please make sure Mia and the baby be ok. I love both of them so much."
A short time later Mia had given birth to a premature baby boy. He was so small and Mia and Kris were only able to see him for a short time before he was rushed off to the neonatal unit.
Mia was visibly upset as was Kris and they held each other in Mia's recovery room. Kris looked at Mia and kissed her and then she smiled as he held her close and he said, "We need to be strong for each other now." Mia nodded as she leaned against Kris's chest and he hugged her and kissed her temple again.
Now they just had to pray and hope their son would be strong enough to survive.

Chapter 22
A few days later Kris and the Pens had a road trip to play the Predators, Hurricanes and Atlanta so Mia was staying and working at the Penguins offices. She had lots to do and when she got home she ate something and then would fall asleep quickly. Kris called to check on Mia to make sure she and the baby were doing well.
One particular evening Mia got home and ate some dinner and then decided to watch the game against the Hurricanes. She ended up falling asleep on the couch with the tv going. In the middle of the night Mia woke up feeling a horrible pain in her abdomen.
"Oh god" Mia said to herself as she tried to get up but it was worse so luckily her cell phone was close and even thought it hurt to move she got up and grabbed her phone to call Veronique. Mia listened and prayed that Vero would answer which she finally did, "Hey Mia, what's up?" Vero asked then looking at her alarm clock and saw that it was 2:30am.
"Vero, something is really wrong with my baby because......because...oh god" Mia cried out in pain.
"Mia, hold tight and I am coming over there and taking you to the hospital" Vero explained as she jumped out of bed and got herself ready as fast as she could.
"Thanks Vero" Mia said and then hung up her phone and tried to relax but the pain was bad. Mia called Kris's cell phone but knew she would get his voice mail and left him a message.
Vero showed up just a few minutes later and Mia let her in but it was hard and Vero helped Mia out of the condo and took her to the car. They headed to the hospital where Mia was admitted. Vero tried calling Marc Andre and Kris and left both of them messages explaining that Mia was in the hospital and something might be wrong with the baby.
Meanwhile Mia was being checked out by a doctor. They were doing some tests to figure out what was going on with the baby. Mia's mind wandered back to when she and Kris were teenagers and she had gotten pregnant the first time.
Mia and Kris were chilling in her bedroom on the bed watching some corny romance movie that Mia wanted to see and Kris had given in but was making snide comments throughout the movie.
"Come on give me a break that guy is so whipped by his girlfriend its not even funny. She tells him what to do and he does it. Give me a break" Kris said sarcastically.
"Kris, hush you said you would watch this with me so be good" Mia said and then shoved his shoulder.
"I am not gonna hush but I will hush you" he said and Mia looked at him confused then he leaned down and kissed her deeply. Mia gave into the kiss and then hands were exploring and clothes were getting tossed here and there and everywhere.
Kris made love to Mia that late afternoon and it was perfect until a month later when Mia found out she was pregnant but Kris was very supportive and wonderful unlike her parents who were not so happy.
Mia was knocked from her memories when she heard her name being called by the doctor.
"Mia, Mia" the doctor called out.
"Yes" Mia answered.
"You were somewhere else, I am guessing" the doctor said.
"I was, sorry. What did you want to tell me?" she asked looking concerned.
"I just wanted to tell you that you seemed very stressed and it was causing some slight contractions but its nothing that we could not stop and you will be fine as long as you have no stress. I am going to put you onto bed rest for the rest of your pregnancy" the doctor explained.
"My baby is going to be ok?" Mia asked hopefully.
"Yes your baby is fine but you need rest so I am also going to keep you here at the hospital overnight to make sure nothing else happens".
"Ok thank you doctor because I can't lose this baby" Mia said as a tear fell.
"Can I ask why you said that?"
"When I was a teenager I got pregnant and I lost that baby and it was really hard on me and my boyfriend. We both really wanted that baby and I was under stress when I lost it so when this happened I was so scared we would have to go through that again and I could not handle that" Mia explained as she placed her hands on her abdomen and smiled knowing this time her baby would be fine.
"Well knowing this information we definitely need to keep you on bed rest and stress free until this little miracle is born".
"I will do whatever it takes to make sure my baby is born healthy" Mia smiled.
"I will come back a little later on and check on you" the doctor said and then left Mia's room.
Back in the waiting area, Vero had finally gotten through to Marc Andre and Kris and Kris was heading back to be with Mia. Vero looked up and saw the doctor and went to talk to her.
"How is Mia doing?" Vero asked and hoped that the doctor would tell her something even though she was not family.
"Are you family?" the doctor asked.
"I am her sister" Vero lied and prayed the doctor would believe.
"Oh well she is fine and you can go and see her. She is room 258".
"Thank you" Vero said and headed to see Mia.
Mia was resting and then she turned her head when the door opened to see Vero.
"Hey mamma, how are you feeling?" Vero asked and came and sat down next to Mia on her bed.
"Tired but happy because my baby is fine. Thank god because I was so sure I had lost this little miracle" Mia said sounding relieved.
"That's wonderful news about Baby Letang. Oh I talked with Kris and Marc Andre and Kris is on his way here as we speak so I am going to go and get him at the airport when he calls me".
"Good because I really need him here with me" Mia said as another tear fell and Vero pulled Mia into a hug, "Its going to be fine and you know Marc and I love you and are always here for you and Kris".
"I know Vero you are a great friend and sometimes I do not know what I would do without you".
"Oh you would be just fine and I know it".
"Thanks again for everything" Mia said leaning back in her bed.
They chatted until Vero got Kris's call and then headed out to pick Kris up from the airport.
When Vero got to the airport she saw Kris standing by the curb with his bags. Vero pulled to the side and stopped. Kris got in and then Vero pulled out.
"How is Mia?" Kris asked worriedly.
"She is going to be fine and so is the baby" Vero said to try and calm Kris down.
"Thank god because when I heard your message I freaked out and thought that Mia and I can't lose this baby. This baby means the world to both of us after we lost our first one" Kris said and then relaxed in his seat as Vero drove them back to the hospital.
When they got to the hospital, Kris practically ran to find Mia. He got to her room and walked in and saw Mia resting in her bed. Kris walked over and sat down next to her and took her hand in his and just held it.

"I am here and going to take care of you and our baby always" Kris said and leaned down to kiss Mia gently.

Chapter 21
The next couple of days Kris and Mia stayed with his mom and step dad until Kris felt that his mom would be fine. Mia was Kris's constant supporter and did what she could to make sure Kris was fine too. He had been so worried but he was also worried about Mia and the baby. She kept telling him she was fine but Kris knew that she did not need any stress either.
One evening Kris and Mia were taking a walk around his parent's neighborhood to just get some fresh air and get out of the house. Plus Kris had been bad about his workouts since he had other things on his mind, his mom, Mia and the baby.
"Mia, thank you for being my calming force during this chaotic time" Kris said and then kissed Mia's palm.
"I would do anything for you Kris" Mia said smiling and then Kris leaned down and kissed her.
"Thanks Mia and I would do the same for you too".
They continued their walk until it started getting dark and then they headed back to the house.
When they got back to the house Kris's parents were sitting in the den watching a movie and so Mia and Kris joined them. The movie was halfway over when Kris noticed that Mia had fallen asleep against his chest.
Kris whispered to his parents, "I think I am going to take Mia to bed and we will see you guys in the morning".
"Good Kris" his mom and step dad whispered back as Kris gently pick up Mia and headed to their room.
Kris laid Mia on the bed and covered her up and then he took of his shoes and then got into bed and held Mia. He watched her sleep until he felt his eyes get heavy and then he was out too.
The next morning Mia woke up and rushed into the bathroom to throw up. She knew it was part of being pregnant but boy it was not a pleasant way to feel first thing in the morning.
"Ugh" she said after wards and then grabbed a washcloth to clean her face off. Then while she was brushing her teeth, Kris walked in, "Good Morning".
Mia smiled and then rinse out her mouth and said, "Good Morning to you" and then she leaned up to give Kris a morning kiss.
"Are you ok?" Kris asked.
"Sure because throwing up is always a great way to start any one's day" Mia said sarcastically and rolling her eyes.
Kris smirked, "I am taking that as a yes that you are fine" and then pulled Mia into his arms and kissed the top of her head.
"Now this is a way better way to start my day being in your arms" Mia smiled into Kris's chest as they both laughed.
The two of them headed to the kitchen where Kris's step dad and mom were sitting having breakfast and reading the morning paper.
"Good Morning mom, Charles" Kris said and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and then holding out a chair for Mia as she sat down.
"Good Morning Kris, Mia" both his parents said.
"Morning" Mia said as Kris handed her a plate and then he sat down next to her.
"How are you feeling mom?" Kris asked as he ate his breakfast.
"I am feeling so much better so you and Mia can relax when you guys head back" his mother said calmly.
"I just want to be sure" Kris said.
After breakfast Mia and Kris got their bags packed and said goodbye to his parents and headed to the airport. The flight was quiet and that was what both of them needed.

"Are you comfy now sweetheart" Kris asked Mia.
"Of course I am why?" Mia asked looking at Kris.

"Good Morning mom, Charles" Kris said and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and then holding out a chair for Mia as she sat down.
"Good Morning Kris, Mia" both his parents said.
"Morning" Mia said as Kris handed her a plate and then he sat down next to her.
"How are you feeling mom?" Kris asked as he ate his breakfast.
"I am feeling so much better so you and Mia can relax when you guys head back" his mother said calmly.
"I just want to be sure" Kris said.
After breakfast Mia and Kris got their bags packed and said goodbye to his parents and headed to the airport. The flight was quiet and that was what both of them needed.
That night Kris and Mia spent the evening on the couch watching a movie. Mia snuggled into Kris's arms to get more comfortable.
"Are you comfy now sweetheart" Kris asked Mia.
"Of course I am why?" Mia asked looking at Kris.
"Because I am not" Kris said and then he held Mia close and slid so that he was laying on his back and Mia was lying on top of him, "Now that is way better".
Mia giggled and then Kris pulled Mia's face to his and kissed her deeply and then moved to nibble on her earlobe which he knew was one of Mia's erogenous zones.

Chapter 20
Kris and Mia flew up to Montreal so that they could be there for his mom. Kris was worried and Mia knew it so she was going to support Kris in anyway possible. They headed to the hospital after leaving the airport and found his mom's room. When they got to the room the nurse was just walking out and Kris stopped her and asked, "How is my mom doing?"
"She is fine now but when they brought her in her blood pressure was high and she was having a hard time breathing and it turned out not to be anything life threatening so she is going to be released tonight" the nurse said.
"Thank you" Kris said as he and Mia walked into his mom's room. Kris was nervous but Mia took his hand and Kris looked at Mia and she smiled at him and that made Kris realize that Mia was there for him and everything would be fine.
"Mom, I am so glad that you are going to be alright" Kris said as he sat down on the bed.
"Kris darling its so good seeing you and Mia here. I feel so much better now that the doctor said that it was just stress that was making me feel bad" Marie said.
"Why have you been stressed mom?" Kris asked worriedly.
"Because the last few times I have talked with you about the baby you have sounded stressed so that worried me a little too much" Marie explained.
"Mom, I am sorry for making you worry about me, Mia and the baby" Kris apologized.
"Its my job to be worried about you sweetie you are my baby and I want everything to be good for you, Mia and my grandchild" Marie said smiling at Mia.
"I love you mom" Kris said and then he hugged his mom tightly.
"Now Mia darling how are you feeling these days?" Marie asked as she held her hand out for Mia, who walked over and took Marie's hand.
"I am feeling good but baby Letang is enjoying playing soccer with my bladder and making me have weird food cravings that drive Kris up the wall" Mia joked as Kris rolled his eyes and then all three of them laughed.
"I am glad to hear you and the baby are doing well" Marie said smiling. Then Mia started to yawn and Marie realized that Kris and Mia had come straight from the airport to see her, "I think Mia needs some rest so I suggest that you two go home and rest and then you can come back later when they release me ok".
"Yes mam" Kris said as he leaned in to give his mother a quick kiss on the cheek. Mia gave Marie a hug and then she and Kris left the hospital and headed to Kris's parents house.

Chapter 19

Chapter 18

Things were busy for Kris and the Penguins so that meant that Mia was busy too in the Penguins media department. She was working a lot on pictures for the website and other media sources. Luckily though Mia's pregnancy had recently calm down and she was not as sick as she had been so that was a relief especially since the Penguins were heading on the road and Mia was going to help out the media guys.
Mia and Kris were both rushing around the condo getting ready for the road trip. Mia was in the closet looking at which outfits she needed when she heard her name.

"Its right where you always put it on your side of the closet" Mia said pointing at Kris's ties and then handing Kris the tie.

A few hours later Kris, Mia and the rest of the Penguins organization that were heading on the road to Montreal. The plane ride was full of chatter as several of the guys were playing a video game. Mia was looking over pictures on her laptop and talking with Chad Jackson, another Penguins media assistant, about the media project they had been assigned for this road trip. Kris looked over at Mia and smiled because she pushed some hair out of her eyes and he caught a glimpse of her wedding ring and engagement ring and that made him feel good because she was his wife and everyone now knew. He also noticed that she was very focused on what she was doing and did not hear when Max called his name.
"Tanger, hey Tanger" Max called and then Max noticed that Kris was looking at Mia, "Hey guys Tanger is thinking of different ways to hook up with Mia, his hot wife".
That comment caught every one's attention and Sidney smacked Max on the side of the head which made everyone start laughing and Max sat back down and sulked. Mia then looked at Kris and smiled at him and he smiled back.
Finally they landed in Montreal and then headed to the hotel where everyone got ready for practice and then headed to the arena for practice. Mia and the rest of the media folks watched practice and got some work done too.
Practice was over and everyone headed back to the hotel for lunch and rest before the game.
Mia was in her room working on her laptop when she heard a knock at her door. She got up and looked out the peephole and saw Kris standing there so she opened the door. Kris walked in and grabbed Mia's hand and pulled her to him and kissed her.
After the kiss Mia gave Kris as 'what was that' look and he looked at her and asked, "What's that look for, Mia?"
"Because you are supposed to be resting for the game tonight and not in here with me" Mia explained and then walked over to the bed where her laptop was and sat down.
Kris followed and sat down next to her, "We could do what Max suggested on the plane earlier".
Mia looked at Kris with a raised eyebrow, "Really Kris, give me a break you need lots of rest to play against the Canadiens so you are not going to do anything that Max suggested. Now go back to your room and go to sleep".
"I will but we need to compromise. If we win I get what I want tonight at the hotel in Toronto and if we lose I will wait until we are home but I think we are gonna win tonight" Kris said smiling.
"Agreed" Mia said and ushered Kris out of her room and he went back to take his nap.
That night at the game the Pens were not at their best during the first period. They were down by 2 goals but Coach Dan had lots of words to say to them between periods. But it did not help the guys, they seemed to be uninspired and just lazy and that ticked off the coaches. And the Pens ended up losing 6 to 0 and the bus ride to the airport was silent. Kris sat next to Mia on the flight to Toronto, "Interesting game sweetie" Mia said to Kris.
"It was horrible and I know I lost the compromise" Kris said quietly.
"No I think you won and I will make your night when we get to the hotel" Mia winked at Kris. Kris smiled and kissed her on the cheek.
Mia and Kris were in her room getting ready for bed. Mia was in the bathroom and Kris was waiting on her in the bed. She came out in one of his shirts and a pair of pajama shorts. Kris just smiled as she climbed into bed next to him. Kris was very quick to make sure Mia was naked like he was quickly. She giggled as he tickled her as he kissed her neck because for some strange reason he had decided there was no point in shaving his goatee.
